Budongo Central Forest Reserve
Budongo forest is the largest surviving Natural forest in uganda with atotal surface area of approximately 825 sq km. Furthermore sharig borders among three Districts of masindi, Hoima as well as Buliisa District.
The forest is blessed to have two Eco-Tourism sites namely Kaniya-padibi as well as Busingiro Kaniyo-padibi location is roughly 5km from the murchison park Boundary and Entry Gate. The forest hosts about 120 chimpanzees even though only one group consisting of about 30 chimpanzees has been fully habituated for chimp tracking,morestill other primate species include the Black and white colobus monkey, the Red- Tailed monkey, Blue monkey, vervet monkey as well as Baboons, Bush bucks, Red and Blue Duikers, Bush pigs, warthogs, lions and water Bucks
The forest is home to a variety of Tree Species like Mahogany. Some of the Trees are well known to possess medicinal qualities.Butterflies, moths as well as Tropical flowers that are a bundant.The forest has several tourist attractions and among which include chimp Tracking, Bird watching, Forest walks, conservation Education, chimp Habituation as well as camping
