Mabira Forest Uganda

MABIRA FOREST

Mabira forest is one of uganda's largest surviving Natural forests covering an area of about 306sq km and is located on kampala Jinja road.Due to the dense forest, it hosts 218 Butterfly species, 97 moth species, 23 small mammal species particularly primate species of the monkey clan, 315 species of birds such as the white bellied kingfisher as well as the Blue headed crested monarch.

The Forest still hosts 312 species of trees including the endangered Cordia Millenii, Mililia Exclesa, and the Warbhugia Ugandenesis which has medicinal properties capable of curing over forty ailments including Prostate Cancer.

Forest activities include Forest Walks with over 68 km of trail length, Mountain Biking, Bird Watching, Environmental Education as well as Research, Camping and Pinic Bonanzas, Primate Watching, Butterfly Identification as well as general Forest Exploration. Knowlegeable local Guides are on standby to take you for a forest walk Exploration.
